Warriors vs. Grace River Forest

In case you've lost count, today's game was the 5th game in 8 days.  But if exhaustion didn't effect how we played, then injuries definitely did.  We started out short one of our players, and had to pull out a few more during the game due to additional injuries.  But the Warriors fought hard and gave it a good effort, in spite of the odds.  As you view the pictures, you'll see the balance was a bit uneven in this match.  We were outsized in more than one dimension!  However, each game is another lesson learned, more experience gained, and it's more fun than homework or working on that science project, right??? Winking smile

We actually started out well.  We got the first basket and kept Grace hopping for awhile.  I don't think they expected much out of our little band of players, but we surprised them and stayed ahead of them for the first several minutes of the game.

By the end of the 1st quarter, Grace recovered and started putting the pressure on.

Hmmm...either the players have to slow down or someone needs to buy me a new (better!) camera!!!

Sorry for the blurry image.  Yes, it reads 24 to 8.  The 2nd quarter didn't go too well for us.

Problem number 2: The other team kept getting in the way of my shots!

Ouch!

Another blurry picture, but who really wants to see the score anyway? Confused smile
However, on the bright side, we kept their gain in this last quarter to three points while we gained seven, so that means we won the quarter at least!
Smile
Warriors don't quit and it was good to see them give their best effort all the way through to the end, in spite of the injuries and other setbacks.  There's been a lot of progress in that regard.  The other things we definitely improved on in this game was our free throw shots.  I don't have any stats at this point but I'm pretty sure that we increased our percentage of baskets this time around.  Way to go!

LaGrange Tournament: Game Three

Our team put forth great effort this afternoon, and although we weren't rewarded with a win, we have assurance that we are definitely improving over time.  When we first played this team earlier in the season, we lost by 29 points.  Today the difference was only 8!  Great job, everyone!

First basket.

Secret weapon #13 (blond player in the background) was taller than anyone else on the court and was definitely the reason that we had to work so hard.  Had he not been there, it would have been a much more even playing field.

We were neck and neck the entire first quarter, first Burr Ridge scoring, then us.

Ready for takeoff???

We allowed 14 points this quarter, and gained only 4.  Rough quarter.

This time they only gained 10 and we gained 6...getting somewhat better.

Collision course.

Toward the end of the game it became more and more difficult to get clear pictures!

Final score.  This last quarter Burr Ridge only gained 3 points and we gained 11!  Hey, can we play a fifth quarter?  We might just win this thing yet!

We finished the game with several injuries, but that just goes to show how much heart and soul went into this game.
Well played, Warriors.
We look forward to your next game on Tuesday.
