Warriors at Melrose Park

Though I'm sure the team would like to measure their progress in terms of wins, sometimes we need to measure it in other ways.  We experienced another loss to Melrose Park today, but we definitely improved in some aspects.  During our last game against this team the final score was 22 to 49.  This time we held them to 33 points.  And at least we had a bit more "zip" and agressiveness compared to Tuesday's game.
But win or lose, Warriors, we're proud of you.

Yes, it was a successful basket, but the cameraperson forgot to include footage of the basket in her video!

We got off to a great start and finished with a tie score at the end of the first quarter.

Sorry for the quality.  We were down by 4, but still within striking distance at half time.

Final score.
Next game at home against Itasca.

Go Warriors!!!!

Warriors vs. Elmhurst

In many ways, it was a good game.  We had some good steals, we scored a decent amount of points, and we pretty much stayed within striking distance of Elmhurst for most of the game.  But "something" was missing.  We were lacking some "zip" tonight, that extra surge of energy, aggressiveness, and enthusiasm needed to make a good game a great game.  But each game is a learning experience, as well as a lot of fun.  Enjoy the photos and videos.

(Sorry for the blurry image.)

This was the widest margin of difference at the end of a quarter.

Don't blink or you'll miss this basket!

Closing the gap...down by only 5.

Final score.
Next game at Melrose Park.
See you there!!!

Warriors vs. Grace River Forest

In case you've lost count, today's game was the 5th game in 8 days.  But if exhaustion didn't effect how we played, then injuries definitely did.  We started out short one of our players, and had to pull out a few more during the game due to additional injuries.  But the Warriors fought hard and gave it a good effort, in spite of the odds.  As you view the pictures, you'll see the balance was a bit uneven in this match.  We were outsized in more than one dimension!  However, each game is another lesson learned, more experience gained, and it's more fun than homework or working on that science project, right??? Winking smile

We actually started out well.  We got the first basket and kept Grace hopping for awhile.  I don't think they expected much out of our little band of players, but we surprised them and stayed ahead of them for the first several minutes of the game.

By the end of the 1st quarter, Grace recovered and started putting the pressure on.

Hmmm...either the players have to slow down or someone needs to buy me a new (better!) camera!!!

Sorry for the blurry image.  Yes, it reads 24 to 8.  The 2nd quarter didn't go too well for us.

Problem number 2: The other team kept getting in the way of my shots!

Ouch!

Another blurry picture, but who really wants to see the score anyway? Confused smile
However, on the bright side, we kept their gain in this last quarter to three points while we gained seven, so that means we won the quarter at least!
Smile
Warriors don't quit and it was good to see them give their best effort all the way through to the end, in spite of the injuries and other setbacks.  There's been a lot of progress in that regard.  The other things we definitely improved on in this game was our free throw shots.  I don't have any stats at this point but I'm pretty sure that we increased our percentage of baskets this time around.  Way to go!
